10/22/09 - Honolulu, HI
Well folks...looks like my journey around the world is put on hold. Medical bills were much more than I had expected, and I have no insurance coverage. Unfortunately this means I can no longer afford to make it to my next stop. I'll be looking for work here on the island until I'm able to pay my debts...
10/21/09 - Honolulu, HI
I couldn't have been more right about things getting worse. I have been incapacitated since I arrived. The doctor said it was most likely food poisoning from the airline food. The past 48 hours have not been enjoyable for me.
Worst of all, my flight leaves tomorrow. Which means I have a solid 6 hours of Hawaii left to enjoy, unless I pull an all-nighter, which doesn't sound like a bad idea.
10/19/09 - Pacific OceanI have finally left California and I'm wondering why? Before I got on the plane I was looking forward to my first time in Hawaii. But that was all before I saw that face in the mirror. I can't describe it. And ever since I saw it things have only been getting worse.
10/15/09 - Medicine Lake, CA
Been camping the last couple of days, this is the first chance I have had to post about it. I went up to Medicine Lake near Mt. Shasta on the CA/OR border. It was a pain to find but once I arrived it was all worth it.
My days here were spent relaxing by the lakeside with a brew, and fishing my own dinner out of the lake. I only have one picture from my trip, but it's more than enough. Be sure to check it out.
10/12/09 - San Francisco, CA
I can't describe how glad I am to be back in California. Though I have been here for a few days already, it dawns on me what I may have been missing on the east coast all along: 'frisco girls.
If you're reading this and wonder why I am spending so much time in California, it's because there are things here that need to be done before this trip can take place. More on that another time...
10/10/09 - Santa Cruz, CA
Went geocaching today along the Santa Cruz coast with some old friends from the area. We decided to attempt a 9-part multicache, where each cache contains a clue to discovering the location of the next in the series.
I'm glad someone brought along an iPhone because we had no idea this multicache would contain all kinds of ciphers and riddles. Once again the internet proves indispensable.
10/08/09 - Yosemite, CA
I cannot begin to describe the beauty of Yosemite National Park. Check out the pictures and see for yourself.
While I was there, I went through the Spider Caves (worst cave name ever) which was incredible. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take any pictures inside. Readers will just have to settle for outdoor pictures
10/06/09 - Denver, CO
Skipping across the United States, I land in Colorado today. This being my first trip here since I was a child, it's like a brand new state! The weather was also a welcome change of pace.
Although I didn't have an opportunity to hit the slopes, I found plenty of ways to keep myself entertained. At the museum I found a book about the ancient cultures of the Americas, and bought it shortly after that.
10/05/09 - Huntsville, AL
I finally arrived in Huntsville and it feels amazing to be with my own blood again. Even better than that is the free food and room for the night.
Family really is the best. When attempting to get a fresh start, it's crucial to look at where you came from first. I can't think of a better place to do that than at a family reunion. Even though I have a room to myself, I don't feel alone here.
10/04/09 - Charlotte, NC
I decided to crash at a friends place last night, attempting to save as much as possible.
I wish I had paid for a hotel.
I couldn't sleep at all, I kept hearing soft breathing coming from a closet nearby. I know it's an older home, and I had to tell myself that all night.
10/01/09 - New York, NY
Today I began my journey around the world. I feel it is time to seperate myself from everything here. I need to leave behind my work, my friends, my home, and even a little bit of myself, because I hate what I have become since I moved.
I am taking everything out of my accounts, and leaving most of my valuables with a relative. I will travel by whatever means are available. My first destination? Huntsville, Alabama for a family reunion. To get things started, I'll be taking a cab out of the city...
